| NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS NEW EPA REGULATIONS REGARDING LEAD-BASED PAINT To protect against the risk of exposure to lead-based paint in common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition, on April 22, 2008, the EPA issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe practices. Under the rule, beginning in April 2010, contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. Contractors will be required to be certified in order to work in pre-1978 homes. As we learn more information on how this will affect our community we will pass it on to you via this website. | |
