NO MORE SORTING!  Your recycling efforts are easier than ever because of SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING.  Single stream recycling means that material can now be collected in a total commingled fashion.  Through the use of automated separation equipment at the MRF (material recovery facility), faster and more efficient separation can be obtained at a processing level than can be provided in two sort separation on the curb.
If the item is recyclable, then toss it in the recycle toter!  Paper can be mixed in with plastics, aluminum, and fiber!  How easy is that??  Below is the accepted commingle list, you will be suprised what can now be recyled!
There are a lot of good reasons to recycle!
  • Recycling creates local jobs and helps drive the local economy.  The recycling and reuse industry employees nearly 16,000 people in the Saint Louis area with an annual payroll of almost $640 million!
  • Recycling reduces the amount of waste being put in our landfills.  The more we recycle, the longer our landfills will last.
  • Recycling helps maintain lower trash hauling rates because it postpones the need to build new landfills.
  • Recycling preserves natural resources by reusing valuable materials rather than simply burying them in the ground.
  • Recycling saves energy by reducing the need to mine and refine new raw materials.  This keeps energy costs down.

Throughout the United States, communities are struggling as landfills fill up and new landfills are built further from populated areas.  This has led to dramtic increases in waste disposal rates because garbage trucks have to travel longer distances to reach new landfills.
